PR 22 - Vereda do Chão dos Louros

This easy 1.9 km circular trail around Chão dos Louros forest park takes 45 minutes through peaceful, shaded forest environments. Located in central Madeira (São Vicente municipality), the route showcases indigenous Laurissilva forest where evergreen Lauraceae family trees predominate—including laurel (Laurus novocanariensis) and Til (Ocotea foetens). During the walk, hikers encounter a natural viewpoint offering wide views over the imposing São Jorge valley. From Chão dos Louros, you can access Caminho do Norte (PR 21) connecting to Ribeira Grande, allowing trail combinations.
