PR 13.1 - Vereda da Palha Carga

This short 1.8 km trail starting at Louro da Gota (ER209) follows PR 13 for the first 100 meters before branching left toward 25 Fontes waterfall area, completed in just 45 minutes. The route descends from 1,328m to 970m to reach 25 Fontes—a magnificent suspended aquifer example whose abundance and permanence proved decisive for constructing Madeira's entire levada system. Currently open with mandatory reservations through SIMplifica portal (30-minute entry slots), this trail offers efficient access to one of Madeira's most significant geological features.
